You can’t go throughout summer with out having green fried tomatoes, it’s what summers are made for. This is a nice recipe that we did for one of our cookbooks and it is real easy to make.


Peach Chutney

  • 5 cups chopped peeled peaches
  • 1 1/2 cups finely chopped sweet onions
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 cup white wine vinegar
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon minced peeled fresh ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon chopped fine mint

Green Tomatoes

  • 4 green tomatoes sliced
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup Cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • salt and pepper


To make Chutney, whisk honey and vinegar together.  Add peaches, onions, ginger and mint.  Salt and pepper to taste and refrigerate.

Mix cornmeal and bread crumbs together and set aside.  Take slices of green tomatoes and flour them to coat.  Place tomatoes in egg wash, covering well, roll in breadcrumbs and cornmeal mix.  Fry until golden.
