It all started when…
Photographer and Studio Owner, Matt Brown, was first introduced to the world of photography by his grandfather, Emmet. Emmet, also known as “Red”, was a Military Doctor during the Korean War; afterwards a well known Surgeon and Hospital Chief of Staff in a small town in Ohio. To Matt he was simply grandpa.
When Emmet wasn’t taking care of his communities health needs, he could be found with a camera in his hand. He started a collection of camera’s and shared his passion for capturing moments in time with his grandchildren. As fate would have it, Emmet became ill with a brain tumor. While in his final days, he took the grandson aside who showed the most interest in photography and gifted Matt his camera collection, asking only that he would love them with the same passion he did.
While in college, Matt, an aspiring soccer athlete suffered an unexpected injury that changed the direction he thought his life would take. He returned home and began soul searching. He began learning graphic design, while that scratched the creative itch that had existed in his heart for a long time, it just didn’t feel like the “it” he was looking for. He remembered the camera collection and it finally clicked. He went looking for an internship and found Fratelli Studios - an up and coming food photography studio locate on the outskirts of the city.
Matt started as an intern, working only for free lunch - every college students dream! With a lot of sweat and long nights he worked his way up from intern to set builder, digital tech, and now Managing Photographer.
