Matt Brown

Matt Brown was first introduced to the world of photography by his grandfather, Emmet. Affectionately known as “Red,” Emmet served as a military doctor during the Korean War, and went on to become Head Surgeon and Chief of Staff at a renowned hospital in Ohio. But to Matt he was simply, Grandpa.

A photography enthusiast at heart, Matt’s grandfather always had a camera in-hand, capturing gorgeous photos of his family, nature, and architectural landscapes. Over the years, Emmet accumulated an impressive array of both vintage and present day camera equipment. While in his final days, Emmet made the decision to gift his camera collection to someone who showed the most interest in the field of photography, and asked only that the cameras be loved with the same passion he did. That person was his grandson, Fratelli Studio’s very own, Matt Brown.

Attending college on a full-ride athletic scholarship, Matt was a rising star in the collegiate soccer world. However, he suffered an unexpected injury that changed the direction he thought his life would take. Matt returned home and began soul searching. He began taking courses in the arts, specifically, graphic design. While that scratched the creative itch that had always existed within him, it just didn’t feel like quite the right fit. Then one day, Matt came across a box in storage— his grandfather’s camera collection. Matt picked up a camera and had his ah-ha moment. He went looking for an internship and found Fratelli Studio, an up-and-coming photography studio in Atlanta.

Long story short, Matt started as an intern, working only for free lunch - every college students’ dream! With a lot of sweat and long nights, Matt worked his way up from intern to set builder, digital tech, and now Principal Photographer and owner of Fratelli Studio.

To this day, you can find Grandpa Emmet’s cherished camera collection displayed within Matt’s Fratelli Studio. Come and see them, and experience all that this leading photography studio has to offer.
